Not a whole lot to report today except that Furry Futa (futanari) doujinshi blew away the competition… And that there won’t be a vote today as I’m going to a “Nideo’s Choice” day tomorrow. Partially because I’m trying to find more time for updates, but also to address some people’s concerns that the same handful of things wins with some regularity (with occasional other stuff mixed in). If nothing else, I’m sure I’ll pick something that hasn’t been updated in awhile. So check back tomorrow for the next update!

So for reasons unbeknown to me, two days ago the site decided to suddenly start overloading, and become really slow. Which of course forced us to change from Apache back to Nginx, which should greatly speed up the server and prevent such errors from happening again in the foreseeable future. I’m currently monitoring the server to see how things are going, and if further action needs to be taken. I’ll keep everybody posted, but so far these changes shouldn’t affect anything on the user end, except for speeding up the site.

So today a lot of more work has actually been towards the techinical aspects of Maihentai.com, which I’ve got good news for anybody with a Sexkey, Maihentai has become a Sexkey site. (Mostly because Free Net Pass decided to not make good on their promise to cover the site’s costs.) Mistress Jaskra is still over there updating it with different updates than here, so now’s definitely a good time to check it out.

Other site news aside, today’s vote was actually surprisingly close with just a single vote separating both Slayers Doujinshi and Outlaw Star from forcing a Sudden Death Vote. Which admittedly hasn’t happened in quite awhile. But Furry Futanari (futa) doujinshi won the day, and will be updated shortly, here’s the votes for those interested…

Question: Nideo, how do you pick which format your movies are in?
Answer: Since I have about 3 hours to finish each update (sometimes less like tonight), I pretty much keep them in the same format they’re in. Usually in the case of .mkv and .ogm, this allows for files with multiple audio steams (usually Japanese, and English voices), and the ability to turn the subtitles on and off. But basically between finding the movies, downloading them, then uploading them to the server, I often run low on time anyway, no where near enough time to run a conversion program to switch video types. Of course if I end up streaming them at some point, I’ll need to switch them on the fly then. We’ll see how that goes.

Question: What’s up with the Slideshow?
Answer: No clue yet, but I’ll look into it tonight and have it figured out by tomorrow.

Question: If Nideo’s Choice wins, what would you pick?
Answer: Often times I find massive collections of stuff, I’d probably just opt to upload one of those.

Also people have brought up some ideas for the vote. Figured I’d address them… At the moment I’m not sure we need a limit on how often something can win, I mean so far nothing has won more than once. I will however make note of it, and if it’s a problem, then we’ll start limiting to once a week that a particular series can win. But honestly I think most people realize that if you vote for the same thing over and over, you’ll get diminishing returns. Only so much hentai/doujinshi is created each day, so if some series wins even within the same month twice, unless it’s something like Final Fantasy there won’t be much new stuff.

On a different note people also ask me why I don’t update both hentai and doujinshi with each update. Well it’s mostly a question of time, I try to complete an update by 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time (I’m in California, which is why we work off that time.) Collecting really doesn’t take very long at all, what takes the most time is sorting. Sifting through for duplicates, sorting into categories (takes ages), taking out non-hentai images, or checking for English pages. It all takes time. So in the end I usually just pick the more popular of the two. On the other hand that means that if a series wins again I can always snag whichever I didn’t update last time.

Anyway speaking of time I’d best hurry else the update won’t finish today. I’m off to collect Futa Doujinshi, I’ll be back in a bit… of course while I’m gone the vote has already started. Will your idea be what wins next? Happy voting!
